Since it was created 25 years ago, Tanganyika Expeditions has alwaysworked towards a more sustainable tourism.

A 100% Tanzanian DMC, Tanganyika Expeditions has always gotten involved in projects which would help local communities like financing (thanks to various donations) the development of schools, local charities and villages.

Tanganyika Expeditions is also very much involved in protecting the environment and contributes to planting trees, treating waste, to constructing water supply or sewage systems…

In some of its lodges, the DMC has also created an organic vegetable garden (Bashay Rift lodge), chicken coop (chicken are fed with organici grains from the farm) and hives.

Animated by the desire to impact the environment as little as possible, Tanganyika Expeditions use solar pannels to provide its lodges with electricity and to feed the batteries for two electric 4X4 prototypes !

Tanganyika Expeditions will be the first DMC in East Africa to offer its clients electric 4X4 safaris as early as July 2018.

Based on a tested German technology, the 2 vehicles at Grumeti Hills will reduce carbon footprint on the long run.
