As a major city of the North of England, Liverpool is famous internationally for different facts: several parts of the city are UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city is also the port of registry of the well-known Titanic.
What Liverpool is maybe most famous for, is being the birthplace of the legendary Beatles, the FAB FOUR!
Liverpool has a lot to offer and to celebrate over the coming months…
The Beatles Story is the world’s largest permanent exhibition purely devoted to the Beatles.
The attraction has recently been voted WINNER “Best Attraction in the North, Scotland and Ireland” category as part of the 2016 Worldwide Attraction Awards!
50 years that Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was released.
Recorded in Abbey Road Studios, it is the eighth album of the Fab Four; the album stayed 27 weeks at the top of the albums chart in the UK from the day it was released, 1st of June 1967.
60 years since John Lennon met Paul McCartney
The first time John Lennon met Paul McCartney, Lennon was about ready to go onstage with his band the Quarrymen. One of the group members knew McCartney from school, so he introduced Paul to his bandmates. Lennon was 16; McCartney was 15. It was July 6, 1957, and the most significant meeting in rock history was about to happen.
60 years since the Cavern Club opened its doors.
The Cavern Club opened in a warehouse cellar at 10, Mathew Street in Liverpool on the 16th of January 1957 planning to become the top jazz venue outside London. For its opening, a lot of jazz fans were there and few hundreds more were queuing outside hoping to get in.
It is only three years later that the Beatles performed there for the first time; they soon established themselves as the Cavern Club’s signature act.
A series of events and performances will be held in Liverpool this year during the 50 SUMMER OF LOVE, to celebrate the golden anniversary of the 1967’s Summer of Love.
